Shantung Cotton Peshtemal
The Shantung is a beautifully simple cotton peshtemal traditionally made on a wooden shuttle loom. It's woven in a grey and ecru marl with simple pinstripe, and hand-finished with a twisted and knotted fringe.
Peshtemals (or hammam towels, as they are also known) are endlessly versatile accessories that can be used as bath towels, blankets or tablecloths.
They’re as absorbent as terry cloth bath sheets yet more lightweight, and can be rolled or folded to a quarter of the size. They’re also remarkably quick drying compared to standard towelling.
The Shantung peshtemal is hand-loomed by master weavers and skilled artisans using natural materials and traditional techniques. It’s made from 100% OEKO-TEX® certified Turkish cotton that’s ethically sourced and sustainably produced.
Machine washable at 30°C.

We'll pack your order into a sturdy FSC-certified cardboard box that's 100% recyclable.
To protect homewares during shipping, we then fill the box with loose foam chips ("packing peanuts"). The chips are manufactured from renewably sourced cornstarch, and are biodegradable and compostable.
Our branded parcel tape, which is also FSC-certified, is recyclable, biodegradable, and printed using environmentally friendly soy-based inks.
